OUR STORY

Considered as the origin of all martial arts, Kalaripayattu is often referred to as the most ancient martial art in the world, and it is indigenous to South India. The term is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘khalurika’, meaning “threshing floor” or “military training ground”, whilst the distinct movements of Kalari are based on the mannerisms and fighting techniques of animals.

Traditionally, the Kalari centers are treated like a temple. Kalari practitioners have high reverence and respect for the kalari. This encourages a safe and harmonious training environment.
