HSTY completed its second 200-hour Teacher Training Course in March 2020. The group of over 20 people from 9 countries came together to learn traditional yoga in its authentic form in the verdant settings of an ashram on the outskirts of Bengaluru, India. Over a period of 26 days, the group underwent intense training in all aspects of yoga including techniques and theory, yoga history and philosophy, anatomy and physiology, ethics and communication skills, besides practical sessions. In this course, the students were also given exposure to experts in Sanskrit and Ayurveda so that their understanding of the traditional arts was well rounded. The yoga sessions helped the aspiring teachers to go inwards and enhance their awareness. In the words of one of the participants, “my first brush with HSTY’s yoga sessions touched me very deeply and led me to apply to become a teacher in this tradition”. The latter part of the course was marked with external turbulence due to Covid-19 induced lockdowns and travel restrictions. However, the students displayed remarkable calmness and stability in staying the course and completing the examinations as planned to earn their certificates. True to its motto, the HSTY teacher training course gave the best training in becoming true yogis to all the participants.
