HSTY conducts Yoga Session for Underprivileged Children

Himalayan School of Traditional Yoga (HSTY) is dedicated to spreading the knowledge and joy of yoga across the world, cutting across barriers of society, culture, wealth or religion. Accordingly, HSTY conducts free programs regularly to expand the awareness of traditional yoga across the world.

In the month of January 2018, HSTY had the privilege of conducting yoga sessions for underprivileged school children in two power centres, Shirdi and Ganeshpuri.

On 19th January 2018, Devi Mohan conducted an open yoga session at the local municipal school in Shirdi. This school was set up by Shama (one of Sai Baba’s closest devotees) in 1881 and has been providing education to children, especially local underprivileged children, since then. More than 100 children and several teachers participated in this session and enjoyed the flavour of yoga introduced to them in this session. The smiles and enjoyment on the faces of the children tell the story – The teachers said that usually many children absent themselves from school and they had a record attendance that day thanks to the yoga session!

On 29 Jan 2018, crowning the end of the HSTY TTC in Ganeshpuri, our future HSTY teachers led by Devi Mohan conducted a beautiful, joyous Yoga session at the Shirdi Sai Baba temple in Vajreshwari (near Ganeshpuri) for underprivileged village children, mostly from the local Adivasi (tribal) people. This Sai temple is being built as a replica of the main Sai Baba temple in Shirdi. Later, the team also visited their school and mingled with the children.
